The heartbeat of this ministry is in line with the vision of AEFM which is to empower people and alleviate poverty in our communities. Our team is tasked to deal with the development , empowerment and upliftment of underprivileged and disadvantaged individuals.
The aim is to feed, clothe, equip and motivate people to become productive members of society. It essentially is involved with social upliftment projects and life skill programs. These include running soup kitchens, distribution of food hampers and lunches for school children, HIV/AIDS clinic and orphanages.
Counselling is also provided for AIDS victims, Drug addiction, abused individuals and broken families.
Annual Projects
ORPHAN CARE
Many community projects, including Acts of Love, provide various orphanages with groceries and clothing but we believe that children require more than this. The Acts of Love team frequently visits orphanages providing them with hot meals and bringing joy and love to their homes. Thousands of children grow up in our country without parents. Acts of Love believes that the seeds of hope and compassion sowed into their lives now will bear fruit later.
MEDICAL CLINIC
Many people in our disadvantaged areas do not have access to basic healthcare. Acts of Love connects with medical professionals who give of their time to make a difference in our communities. The goal of the clinic is to bring health awareness to the community. We offer free blood pressure-, eye- and glucose- testing, free medical consultations and necessary medication is dispensed free of charge, under the authority of registered medical practitioners.
FAMILIES IN NEED
Acts of Love also provides families in need with grocery hampers on a one-time basis. Acts of Love may continue with assistance if required by the families.
WINTER OUTREACH
During winter the Acts of Love team goes into the streets and provides blankets and hot meals to the homeless. In 2010 over 1500 blankets were distributed.
EDUCARE
Acts of Love realises that education is a fundamental building block to ensure a sustainable impact on the lives of children. Our learner support program provides learners from disadvantaged backgrounds with additional tuitions by current and former teachers on a weekly basis. We also provide learners from various orphanages with school shoes, school bags and stationery.
CHRISTMAS HAMPER PROJECT
The Acts of Love shoebox project is there to ensure that every child feels loved and special during the festive season. Sponsored gifts from members of Acts Christian Church and the surrounding community are distributed to various orphanages.
YOUTH CARNIVAL
Orphans from many orphanages are treated to a fun day and given the opportunity to experience the spirit of Christmas. Children are entertained throughout the day. Gifts, meals and party packs are also provided to each child.
